IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING FRAUDULENT EMAIL INVOICES:
Due to recent reports of email fraud throughout the United States making use of detailed zoning application information to send fraudulent invoices to zoning-related applicants, we are removing application materials from our website until further notice.
If you would like to receive information about a specific zoning application, please contact us directly.
We have been alerted to email/phishing scams involving fake invoices that appear to originate either from Hometown Planning or local government entities (townships, cities, counties) that Hometown Planning may work in or with. These fake invoices typically claim to be related to fees for zoning applications involving public hearings (not over-the-counter administrative permits).
Do not pay any invoices that you were not expecting until you have verified its legitimacy directly (do not click on any links or emails in the fake email/invoice) with the local government or Hometown Planning. Hometown Planning does not send invoices directly to landowners. While your local government may send you invoices, we are not aware of any that require payments via wire transfer or demand payment within very short periods of time (i.e. 24 hours) or that require you to communicate by email only.
If you are victimized by a fraudulent email, please contact local law enforcement. If you have received what you believe to be a fraudulent email consider reporting it to your email provider or other appropriate authorities such as the Anti-Phishing Working Group, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
